Do you find yourself lacking the confidence to make changes in your life? Does stepping outside your comfort zone make you anxious? Is poor self-esteem or insecurity holding you back from going after personal or professional dreams?
If so, I’m sorry for your pain and know how it feels. I’ve been insecure myself, starting in childhood and carrying right through a corporate career where I was a perfectionist, as a way to try to prevent disappointing anyone. And let me tell you: nothing feels better than believing in myself, which I now do without a doubt. Well, sometimes I have doubts, but I know what to do about it! And I’d be delighted to help you believe in yourself, too.

Reasons to be Hopeful
The fields of positive psychology and life coaching offer many proven strategies that work wonders on your sense of confidence and personal potential.
Positive psychology is a scientific approach to studying human thoughts, feelings and behavior, with a focus on strengths instead of weaknesses. When you take a scientific strengths assessment, you can’t dismiss the results. I felt the impact of this myself ten years ago and have seen it light up hundreds of people in my coaching practice since then, from school children right up to the CEO of an international corporation. Your strengths are a FACT, not an opinion, and the whole field of positive psychology is based on using strengths in ways that build happiness, overall well-being and life satisfaction, gratitude, achievement and even better relationships.
Life coaching is full of tools that help people feel better about themselves and to live more confidently.
What I offer
I offer free information and resources on this site as well as one-on-one coaching. I’ve outlined a four-session coaching program below to show you exactly what you’d learn and what you’d receive working with me.
A Coaching Program Designed Just For You
Pre-coaching Discovery SessionBefore you commit your time or money, we’d talk for half an hour to answer your questions and see if this feels like a good solution for you. You can schedule that right now if you like.
We’ll start by getting super clear on your current situation and your goals, whether they’re personal, professional, or relationship-oriented. What are the messages you’re getting from your ‘inner critic,’ and how are they disrupting your life and your plans?
You’ll begin to discover your personal “strengths DNA,” drawn from a strengths assessment you’ll take through me (the VIA Assessment of Character Strengths), results of other strengths or personality assessments you’ve taken previously, and your awareness of the things that helped you be successful in the past. Learn how to begin applying your strengths to the parts of your life you’re not satisfied with.
Building resilience and self-compassion, continuing to counter negative self-talk that’s holding you back, beginning to build a life that’s based on your strengths, setting positive goals and taking daily action toward them.
Putting it all together into your personal strengths-based life and career plan.
One of the minor challenges I need to manage every day is driving in Johannesburg. Those of you who live here know what I'm talking about; for the rest of you, Jozi was once named one of the world's worst cities for commuting, largely thanks to the wild and illegal...
"It's true, I really can see a pattern in the strengths I use!" My daughter Sarah, 15, had been keeping the What Went Well journal for three days and I'd asked her what she thought of it. "Hurray!" was my reply, for two reasons: the journal was working, but even more...
If Thanksgiving or other upcoming gatherings of family and friends fill you with even the smallest bit of dread, I offer this little tool to help ease it. What are you dreading? Or should I ask, “who?” There are so many different types of difficult relationships, and...
Overusing my top strengths is a mistake I make less often now, but it's still a tendency I have to be mindful of. Our top strengths come so naturally to us that sometimes we use them more often, or with more intensity, than the situation requires. Have you ever known...
The second-most frequent question I get asked is, "What do I do with my strengths once I know them?" Great question! There is so much you can do with your strengths -- they really can change your life. You can use your strengths to: Understand why you do things the...
The question people ask me most often about strengths is, "But what about my weaknesses?" This used to seem ironic to me, but over the years I've realised that most people can't start focusing on their strengths until they (at least begin to) make peace with their...
